Tony Danger Coiro, a student at Purdue University, has developed a one-of-a-kind electric motorcycle that is powered by renewable solar energy. The motorcycle is a transformed version of an old 1978 Suzuki that was purchased for just $50. The inventor spent about $2500 redesigning and retrofitting the bike, which gives a range of about 24 miles per charge and a top speed of 45mph.

Honda will unveil its first supermini hybrid at the Paris Motor Show next month. Christened the “Honda Jazz Hybrid,” this green car features Honda’s innovative petrol-electric IMA system, which helps to lower emissions and improve fuel economy. It will have CO2 emissions of 104g/km, which is 21g/km lower than the current lowest-emitting 1.2 petrol Jazz, and combined economy of 64.2mpg, which is 23 percent better than the best-selling 1.4 ES model.

An innovative and sustainable housing project for Slovenia’s largest city Ljubljana has recently lead Slovenian architects Enota to slam the second spot in an invited competition. Dubbed the “Lotus Tower,” the apartment building offers a beautiful uninterrupted view of the park. Overlooking the park, the apartments are laid out in the split lamella that is 60 meters high and 15 meters wide, allowing good lighting for the double-sided oriented apartments. The park greatly increases the quality of living by creating a mild microclimate, so the building is not divided into primary and secondary.

Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects, Scandinavia’s recognized and award-winning architectural practice committed to innovative and sustainable design, has won the competition to design the new master plan and extension of Kolding Hospital in Denmark. Designed in collaboration with NIRAS, CREO, Balslev and GBL, the 32,000-m2 extension will include a bed ward, an emergency ward and a new main entrance. The orthogonal building structure will be extended by while allowing the nature and greenery of the landscape of Kolding river valley to penetrate in.
Eco Factor: Concept yacht powered by solar and wind energy.
Conceptualized by designer Jun Han Song, the Landscape is a proposal for a gigantic superyacht for the folks of the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. The 75m long trimaran with a 20m beam features a sun-deck, a lounge, a dining area and living space for 12 guests with a crew of eight members.

In an effort to reduce demand for grid electricity, Loopwing Korea has demonstrated new streetlights and renewable energy generators at the Renewable Energy World 2010. The loopwing-type wind power generators have a unique loop-shaped wing structure which makes it possible to convert wind speeds as low as 2m/s into electricity.
