After being criticized for killing birds and ruining the landscape, wind turbines have evolved to suit individual needs. The evolution doesn’t just stop at the development of vertical axis wind turbines, as designers are continuing to change the design and features of wind turbines, making them a welcoming addition to an urban household.
Geoffrey Kemmerer is trying to change the overall design of a wind turbine which doesn’t rotate in the wind to generate electricity, but sucks in air to run a turbine installed at the base. All the moving parts are located at the base, which eliminates noise and prevents birds and bats from colliding with its blades.
